The Rotary Club of Placentia was amoung the Habitat for Humanity partners of donors and volunteers to build their home, providing “sweat equity. Habitat for Humanity of Orange County buit two single-family houses on Oak Street in Placentia. The Vargas family was in line for one of the homes.

“When we got selected, my wife got an immediate smile on her face,” Vargas said. “We’ve been so happy.” “I never pictured we would actually own a home,” he said. “They can have a home, not just move around from place to place.” Owning a home, Vargas said, will give his children stability.

The two craftsman-style houses on two lots donated by the city. The 1,500-square-foot homes have four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths and two-car garages. Vargas, his wife and children – ages 14, 3, 2 and 1 – were renting a room in a house in Santa Ana.
