Placentia Navigation Center Celebrated 6 Months

Marshe Samuel is the Volunteer Coordinator for PATH, the Navigation Center. The center recently celebrated 6 months! 2970 hot meals were donated from July to September. The residents are permitted to bring their pets & they currently have 35 pets, so donations of food, flea treatment, shampoo, etc. is always needed. More food support is needed.
Wednesday, October 14, 2020, 14 members were in attendance: Roy, Ron, Kathi, Ward, Turgut, Kevin, Glenn, Lisa, Jim, Alice, Martin Medrano, representing member Gil Cisneros, Andrea, Hugh, Nate & Craig. Guests were Chad Zimmerman-Assistant Governor for District 5320 and speaker, Marshe Samuel-Volunteer Coordinator for the Navigation Center.
The pledge was lead by Kathi, Inspirational Moment was provided by Ron, 4 Way-Test was led by Ron.
Kathi provided an update from the Placentia Chamber of Commerce. A Networking at Noon zoom meeting on Friday, October 16th will feature Chris Barnett from CDS Insurance Services. Social Media & Marketing Presentation will be part of the Business Success Series on Wednesday, October 28th, from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM via zoom. Log in information can be found in the chamber newsletter .Recycling Event scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, November 7 & 8 @ Placentia Town Center. Restaurant Week is coming! November 2-8, more information on the weekly newsletter from the chamber.
Ward provided an update from the city: The Tamale Festival will look different this year! No congregating, possibly just picking up your tamale order. Plans are still in the works. An overhaul is happening on Bastanchury Ave., so be forewarned!
Jim announced the End Polio Now Campaign of a $100.00 annual donation from now until it is finally eradicate. You can contact him or do it online.
The Halloween Event on Thursday , October 29th, sponsored by the city, will be a drive-thru, occurring @ 4 different locations-the fire station on Valencia Ave., the fire station on Bradford Ave., Placentia City Hall on the corner of Kraemer Blvd. & Chapman Ave. and the Whitten Center on Melrose Ave. from 5-7 PM. Rotarians are welcome to volunteer to pass out candy to the children in the cars as they drive through a location. Michelle, Lisa, Alice, Sue & Ron, Turgut, Glenn & Kathi volunteered. Andrea will be in touch w/the Interact Members as well. MASKS AND GLOVES WILL BE MANDATORY!
Fine Master Craig Hall fined himself $20 for his 2 year club anniversary! Two members were not displaying any Rotary logo-Roy & Turgut-$2.00 fine. Lisa also received a $2.00 fine for displaying with pride her new official blue badge! Fastest Red Badge in the West! Ron had a HB for Lisa earning her blue badge, Turgut had $51 HB for Polio Plus, Maria is cancer free! Kathi had $20 HB for Maria being free of cancer & Lisa earning her blue badge, Carrie had $5 HB (Craig will collect) for Maria being declared cancer free, Alice had $25 HB for Maria’s good news & $5 HB for Lisa earning her blue badge & $5 for Turgut sitting outside @ the Tuesday Night Social on Tuesday October 13. Ward had $10 HB for Maria & $5 HB for Lisa & $5 HB for Andrea & her midterms, all being donated to the Capital Campaign. Kevin had $5 HB for Maria, Chad had $5 HB, Andrea had $3 HB for completing her mid terms & $2 HB for Maria, Roy had $5 HB for Maria, Lisa had $5 HB for Maria, jim had $10 HB for Lisa & Maria, some happy birthday wishes for the Navy-245 years & the Naval Academy-175 years! Craig had $5 HB for his son arriving safely in Kuwait. He is on his way to Syria. He has & will spend several weeks in quarantine.

The residents are permitted to bring their pets & they currently have 35 pets, so donations of food, flea treatment, shampoo, etc. is always needed. Bomba donated 2000 pairs of socks. The credit union is offering “financial literacy “ classes for the residents. A book self has been donated & now they’re ready for books to fill it! Decorations for the holidays would be greatly appreciated. The most recent reports are attached to the newsletter.
